Content

This unit deepens and integrates the supervisory knowledge and practice of supervision of Spiritual Directors. The utilization of the ancient spiritual tradition of discernment will be critiqued in the context of supervision including: discernment of spirits; the examination of conscience; the efforts to distinguish the movement of God's Spirit and other spirits; and an examination of the role spiritual discernment plays in supervision of Spiritual Directors. Supervision skills and strategies will expanded with the development of heart listening, spiritual companioning, theological reflection, compassionate self-care and contemplative engagement with mystery. This unit requires each student to log 10 hours as a supervisor in training. Additionally, the student will receive at least 2 hours of supervision provided by a UD recognised Spiritual Direction supervisor.
