Learning outcomes

1.

Describe and demonstrate an understanding of grief and loss that engages spiritual, theological and psychological perspectives

Offer detailed exegesis analysis of a particular Bible passage on an aspect of grief and loss (e.g. death, suicide, abortion, suffering, workplace issues)

Develop a theologically informed professional counselling approach for care and support of people experiencing loss and grief

Articulate and theologically evaluate the major themes and insights of current research that lead to health-promoting Christian professional counselling

Unit sequence

Within the Advanced Diploma, Understanding Grief and Loss Counselling is a required unit for those who have not completed a similar unit in their diploma studies.

Pedagogy

This unit employs interactive lectures, including seminar-style discussion of guided readings, student presentations, group projects and instructor-led group analysis of texts.
