Content

This unit seeks to advance the ministerial leadership effectiveness of participants as missional leaders in their ministry contexts. It includes an integrative analysis of theology, organizational behavior, group process, personality theory, pastoral care, and problem-solving skills designed to enhance the leadership effectiveness of participants. The unit will follow three main tracks of study: personal spiritual formation, ministry context analysis, and leadership studies. Students will be encouraged to integrate all three streams in developing leadership capacities to enable and empower spiritual growth and engagement in mission within their contexts.

Learning outcomes

1.

Evaluate and propose biblical and theological principles for Christian leadership development.

Critically assess diverse practical and theological approaches to Christian leadership development.

Appraise current issues in Christian leadership development, while integrating perspectives from their other theological studies.

Evaluate their own strengths and growth areas as leaders (and their own leadership development journey), and construct strategies for developing leadership competencies, character, and understanding.

Develop an advanced and critical Personal Leadership Discernment and Development Plan.

Pedagogy

Teaching strategies include lectures; research; class discussion and debates; presentation of instructional material in the form of printed documentation, podcasts, videos, and audio; online course and multimedia materials.
