In this unit students will explore theological and practical perspectives on Christian leadership with a view to equipping the student for Christian ministry and service. Students will explore Christian leadership theologies and practices while examining their own development as leaders. Students will focus on such issues as: • Biblical and theological issues in Christian leadership. • Developing as a Christian leader. • Leading and managing churches and organisations. • Current issues in Christian leadership, such as systems theories, leadership styles and approaches, women in leadership, cultural intelligence, conflict transformation, leading change and spiritual leadership.

Learning outcomes

1.

Outline biblical and theological principles for Christian leadership.

Describe diverse practical and theological approaches to Christian leadership and management.
3.

Appraise current issues in Christian leadership and management, while integrating perspectives from their other theological studies.
4.

Evaluate their own strengths and growth areas as leaders, and construct strategies for developing leadership competencies, character, and understanding.

Pedagogy

4 weeks of face to face classes. 9 weeks of online classes, including virtual classrooms.

Teaching strategies include lectures; research; class discussion and debates; presentation of instructional material in the form of printed documentation, podcasts, videos and audio; online course and multimedia materials.
