Content

This unit will select books and/or themes of the Old Testament canon for deeper exegetical and theological study. Students will continue to develop known exegetical tools (such as close reading, historical-cultural research, and analysis of literary context) and integrate new tools appropriate to the particular text and genre (such as narrative criticism, social-scientific criticism, and ideological criticism). Building on the exegetical work, students articulate related Old Testament theological themes and explore the relevance of the Old Testament for today.
