This unit is designed to build on the knowledge of classical Hebrew acquired in AL9101C Hebrew A. The unit will concentrate on the “weak verbs” and a wider knowledge of standard Hebrew nominal forms. It will also give greater attention to further developing the students’ knowledge of Hebrew syntax.
Demonstrate a developed understanding of the key grammatical elements of biblical Hebrew
Demonstrate command of a core of frequently used vocabulary and expressions
Give an English equivalent of select passages (principally prose narrative) from the Old Testament with and without the aid of lexicons
Apply their knowledge of Hebrew to the exegesis of passages in the Old Testament
Apply their knowledge of available resources to the examination of problems of syntax and morphology in Hebrew
Demonstrate the capacity to adequately research a specific topic in Hebrew language study.
