Campus: North Adelaide
Mode: Blended
Delivery Notes:

This class is "blended," meaning that students engage with the learning materials, each other and the lecturer in a variety of ways, synchronous (i.e., real time) and asynchronous (students' own time).

  • Synchronous classes are scheduled for period 1 (8:45-10:15am) on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • On campus "in person" students meet in seminar room 2 with distance students joining online via Zoom.

Preparing for classes: This class is organized into several modules, which indicate the topics/tasks, discussion questions, etc. as well as provide extra reading material outside the Bible and textbook or Bible. There are four modules, two preparatory topics and two focused directly on particular books from the Prophetic Corpus

  • Module 1: Reading and Studying the Prophets (scholarhip, poetics, prophecy in ancient Near East, OT historical & theological backgrounds, genres of prophetic discourse, hermeneutics, typology)
  • Module 2: Book of Isaiah (depth)
  • Module 3: Selected Books from the Minor and Major Prophets (breadth)

More information is provided in more detail in ALC's Learning Management System [LMS] called "ARK". The time we spend varies from module to module. Students are expected to track our progress in the modules and come to class prepared for discussion.
