The aim of this unit is to help the student develop an integrated view of theology that he or she can expound in a way suited to the needs of our times and drawing on the students personal and pastoral experience. In the oral examination, the candidate is expected to discuss, from within their own ecclesial context but in a positive and ecumenical way, key themes of Christian theology, such as Revelation, Christology, Trinity, Ecclesiology, Grace and Original Sin, the Sacraments, Eschatology, and Christian Moral Response. The student may prepare for this exam in one of two ways, both under the guidance of a supervisor: by preparing to respond to a series of questions covering these key themes; or by preparing a written, synoptic presentation of a topic that is capable of embracing the key themes of Christian theology. Depending on the mode of preparation, the oral examination will take as its basis the series of questions or the written synthesis.
